Description:

Clarion West's Six-Week Workshop is a space for writing short fiction and learning how to workshop it under the guidance of staff and luminaries of the speculative fiction field. Every summer, we welcome a cohort of emerging writers to the workshop. (Not sure if that's you? Check out our FAQ.)

The 2025 workshop will be held virtually from June 22 to August 2, 2025. This year's virtual format is slightly different than previous years. Students spend the first week getting to know their class and learning how to workshop stories. In Weeks 2, 3, 5, and 6, students will write a story each week and closely reading their classmates' work for daily workshop sessions. Week 4 will be a less intensive week focused on short lectures from the four instructors and time for catching up on rest and writing. You can read more here.

Applications are open through February 15, 2025. This means you must submit your application by 11:59pm Pacific time on February 15. Clarion West charges a nonrefundable sliding scale application fee in US dollars, which is payable via Square. Applicants can choose to pay the amount best supported by their budget.
